“There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet. ” ~Brooke Medicine Eagle

In the 28 day Soul Coaching© program that I facilitate, we move through four basic elements with the intention to clear the clutter in our lives and within ourselves, so that we can hear our deepest truth more clearly.  Many ancient cultures used the natural elements as a guide for balanced living and as a way to become oriented to their surroundings.  The four basic elements are air, water, fire and earth. Each element can be related to an aspect of yourself and your life; air/thoughts, water/emotions, fire/spirit and earth/body.  By bringing attention to each element, you become aware of where you are in or out of balance in your life.

The earth is the element that grounds, earth IS the ground!  Earth is where we are rooted; it is our source for living.    Our physical self is where we express and experience all the other elements; our thoughts, feelings, and spiritual self.   Our body is home for all the elements combined.

Some questions to ponder in regards to the earth element are; how well do you take care of your body?  What harmful substances do you need to remove from your diet to create a healthier fueled body?  What distractions or addictions take you out and away from your body?  How often do you spend time in nature or even notice it?  Where do you feel most at home?

During the 28 day Soul Coaching© program, the earth element is the last element we move through and experience.  This is because this element is home for all the other elements, it holds them.  The earth element reminds us to be present, be in the now, and experience who we came here to be through this growing, living element we call home.

spring-124“No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.”  ~Proverb
As I was driving to work today I noticed the exquisite tunnel of blossoming trees arching over the road; white, pink, purple and green buds exploding in color.  Just last week the branches and earth were bare and brown.  Cold wind and rain were constant companions waiting with us for the earth to turn.  And it turned overnight.

Spring is full of messages if you listen.  Spring reminds us that no matter how dark things seem in our lives, there will come a time where things will change.    It assures us that when we are in our feelings of darkness, despair, depression, sadness, grief ~ this season will pass.  Emotions are the water element and they will move, as water does, when we allow ourselves to feel.  Springtime also represents the manifestation of energy, ideas into form.  From a hidden seed to a flower, plant, fruit, vegetable or dream come true.

With this turn of the season, consider how you can tap into the explosion of energy in nature and where you can apply this in your life.  To get you rolling ~ ie; work, physical health/exercise, relationships, self care, unfinished projects, creativity, learning, expressing…

Here is a quick Soul Journey for you to join with spring in creating blooms in your life;

Close your eyes~take a deep breath~breathe in the energy from within the earth and the life force pulsing through the trees, plants, grasses right now.  Breathe this energy into the places in your life where you could use some new energy.  Breathe out negativity, critical thoughts, and judgement.  Breathe in hope.  This is the gift of spring.

Wishing you ~ soul blossoms ~ you beautiful soul you!

spring06-004   If thou of fortune be bereft,
And in thy store there be but left,
Two loaves, sell one, and with the dole,
Buy Hyacinths to feed thy soul

I heard this poem recited on the radio recently and I knew  immediately I had to share it with you.  This poem speaks to the pleasures of the soul; an experience  through the senses.  Have you ever smelled a hyacinth?  If not, find one, get down on bended knee and take in the heavenly fragrance.  You may find your eyes closing to block out all other senses,  as you breathe in the intoxicating perfume.    Other flowers that can have this same effect are gardenias, lily of the valley, and lilacs.  Their scent reaches deep beneath the flesh and into the cavern that holds the soul.

We rely on our senses to give us information about the world around us, but they are much more.  The soul loves experiencing through the senses and it’s usually simple things that bring the most pleasure.  Consider all the senses and what feeds your soul.  If you follow along and create a list, you’ll have a plan for simple pleasures you can afford to give yourself.  Here are some purposeful ponderings to get you started;momvisitnov-003
  • What sounds do you love listening to?  What feels soothing, energizing, joyful, playful?  Think nature, human voice, instruments, technology.
  • What are your favorite tastes?  What tastes bring back fond memories? What tastes stop you in your tracks to savor the moment?
  • What are you favorite colors?  What activities do you enjoy watching?  What kind of art do you admire?  What do you gravitate toward in nature?
  • What element feels good against your skin, ie; water, air, warmth, earth?  What is your favorite fabric?
  • What smells bring back happy memories or feel homey to you?  What scents do you favor?

Your senses can direct you to simple ways to feed your soul. Your soul does not make requests for expensive, extravagent, material objects.   That’s the ego’s role.   The soul experiences.   I’d love to hear the way your soul speaks to you through your senses and I hope you’ll indulge your soul in some simple pleasures. Remember to; momvisitnov-011

gardensmallSince spring has sprung, I’ve been busy on the weekends tending to my garden.  After yet another weekend of fertilizing, watering, weeding and just all around sprucing up the garden, I sat back and noticed how it has flourished.  My garden is in full bloom, the plants are healthy and thriving. I feel so happy being surrounded by all this life around me. My hard work paid off – my vision, attention, diligence, care.  All brought about growth, transformation and blooms.

And so it is with our lives.  What we put attention on grows; unhealthy or healthy.  If you nurture mold and give it what it wants, it will grow!  Same with our thoughts, intentions, and prayers.  When we focus on what we want to create and put an action plan in place, we have a better chance at bringing about our soul’s hopes and dreams.

How are you tending your soul right now?  Sort  through the different areas of your life and notice what is working and what is not. Next, jot down 5 areas that could use some tending, then ask your soul these questions:

  1. What element is needed in order to bring about balance?  Water/Emotions, Fire/Spirit, Earth/Physical, Air/Thinking
  2. What seeds have you been holding onto and not yet planted?
  3. What needs to be weeded out or harvested?
  4. What old belief system is holding you back?  Challenge it.
  5. What has worked in the past in tending to this area of your life?  Implement it.

Soul tending takes awareness and mindfulness.  Moving through life unconsciously is not as easy as it sounds; there is a toll.  It is called the unlived life, the garden that never got planted.  You can start right where you are as it’s never to late to grow.  As long as you are here, you have the opportunity to learn, change and bloom!

With our outer world in so much upheaval and change, it can seem difficult to stay grounded and not give in to the fear that surrounds us.  And the fear is now being labeled as “pandemic”.    If you totally give in to this fear, you are missing out on the now of your life.  Right this minute – it’s all you’ve got.

Just like a roller coaster ride, life can feel scary when we don’t know where we are going or what hill is ahead.  Sitting in uncertainty can be very uncomfortable – but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are some easy steps you can take if you ae feeling upside down lately;

  1. Do something physical – walking, pulling weeds, playing with your children, yoga.  Doing a physical activity moves worry energy and creates endorphins that can help you feel better.
  2. Spend time in nature, get outside.  Nature has a way of calming and absorbing your fears.  If you cannot get outside, take a mini spa break and imagine yourself in your favorite place in nature.  A quick trip to the sea or a forest in your mind can instantly calm.
  3. Start clearing your clutter.  Again, this activity moves energy and you will end up with a sense of accomplishment and a clearer pathway to hear your soul’s voice.
  4. Create a list of what is positive in your life.  When you focus on what is working, it will help you climb up any mountain that appears.  This gives you strength.
  5. Decide to enjoy something in this day, no matter what.  Each moment adds up to your life.  Be here now.

We are all riding this roller coaster together.  Hold on to the bar and stay grounded!

Earth is the element that grounds, earth IS the ground!  During the 28 day Soul Coaching program, we enter into our physicality and the world of matter during earth week.  Earth is where we are rooted, it is our source for living.    Our physical self is where we express and experience all the other elements; our thoughts, feelings, and spirit.   Our body is home for all the elements combined.

Some questions to ponder in regards to the earth element are; how well do you take care of your body?  What distractions or addictions take you “up” and out of your body?  How often do you spend time in nature or notice it?  Where do you feel most at home?

During the 28 day Soul Coaching program, the earth element is the last element we move through and experience.  This is because this element is home for all the other elements, it holds them.  I’ve been sharing my own journey of moving through the 28 day Soul Coaching program, and it was during earth week I found my new office home.  I had moved through each element during the process of  changing office locations.   After taking a leap of faith during fire week; moving without a new office in place,  my new office manifested and became real.

The earth element reminds us to be present, be in the now, and experience our Soul through this growing, living element we call home.
